New Blog…

September 6th, 2011

I hope everyone had a good summer and everything is going well as we head into my favorite season, autumn. After scoring a win in Sturgis, I had high hopes going into Springfield. Things didn’t go as planned during the weekend. Through-out both days, I felt fast but just couldn’t put anything together during the races and ended up doing the complete opposite of what I planned which was watching both main events.

In 2009, we had a very good program with Rich Hanson tuning the wrenches at the track and my dad/grandather and Rich Meisenbach working on the bikes at the shop. We made 6 main events that season and were very close to making a bunch more. To start off 2010, I got injured in March in which I didn’t feel anything better then 80% healed until August. I won a race in August in Ironton, OH, then the week after that, my Dad passed away. I trained hard during the offseason and I felt like I was riding better then I ever was, I just wasn’t sure how 2011 would turn out without the support of our biggest sponsor and fan around anymore.

2011 came around and I had some high and low points through-out the year. I won on the XR 750 in Daytona and had top 10′s on all four of the hot shoe races down there. I also won the D6 opener at Trail-ways against 2 guys who have won GNC singles nationals this year. I felt good and also won events at other D6 events such as Path Valley and Piston Poppers on the 450 as well as my first time to Gratz 1/2 Mile on the twin. I made the Hartford, MI GNC race and I won a race during the Sturgis Rally. I also feel like I had some good speed at Lodi, CA and Circleville, OH winning my heat races against some former national champions and running strong in both main events.

This season, I have emptied alot of my piggy bank not only to fund my program but to fund Shayna’s as well. We formed RLT Racing all by ourselves and with the volunteered help of Bryan Simcox we have had success all year long. Over the last couple of months, the long season has been winding down. We have had a few broken motorcycles, some hard crashes in Duquoin and Castle Rock as well as some really long nights spent in the race shop. I wanted to take the time to let everyone know that I am taking the rest of the 2011 off to focus on my school and to spend time with my family to try and get my head back into racing. One of my main goals in racing was to have fun and make my Dad proud and it’s hard to find that extra motivation every weekend. I know I am still as fast as anyone out there and I don’t have to proove that to anyone but myself. People will doubt and disagree but I have done things over the course of the year away from the track that puts a confident smile on my face. I will be getting the screws out of my ankle I have been holding off for a few years now, and then riding some motocross and just getting back to having fun on a motorcycle again. Shayna will still be flying the RLT Racing colors at the remaining races and hopefully next season we can get some support we desperatley need but tried to do without and we can combine our strong efforts and marketing techniques to another established team out there on the circuit.

I want to thank all my fans, family and most importantly my sponsors. My other family from Herr’s have been outstanding as well as the guys from Invisible Glass. Kris Schoonover and the Harley-Davidson factory saved my twins season this year and they have been so awesome all season long even with the struggles and bad luck we have had. I also want to thank all of my other sponsors who can be found on my website. Visit there sites support their companies as they help so many in the sport, not just our team. I also want to thank others who contributed such as buying tshirts and helping us get to the track and giving us places to stay away from home. There has been so many. I have plans to race in the 2nd annual Randy Texter Memorial Race at Path Valley at the end of the season and I am going there hungry so I hope alot of you other racers can come out and make it a race to remember.

I will be on a motorcycle in 2012 and I will be hungry and ready to rock and roll.
